DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research Director will be responsible for:
- Daily antivirus and antispyware signature updates. Develop procedures and processes to support rapid, high-quality, highly-scalable content development efforts
- Other scheduled content updates as required
- Informational content, such as virus descriptions
- Outbreak and other crisis response and coordination
- Customer support on malware issues, both pre- and post-sales. Support is delivered both directly and indirectly through McAfee's Technical Support department.
- Interaction with other research teams within AVERT Labs to provide coordinated threat response.
- Interaction with AVERT Development Director and teams to transition research prototypes to productions and spec new systems as needed.
- Managing budget and personnel issues for a team of nearly 50 researchers globally distributed in 12 countries on 4 continents.
- Travel will be required
- Position has 24X7 responsibilities

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

5 to 10 years managing a team or teams of security or antivirus researchers preferred. Equivalent experience running large group content development projects will be considered. Solid grasp of computer security issues required. Ability to remain cool under extreme pressure required.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent experience. CISSP, MCSE a plus
