Academic Grant License Specialist

In support of the MathWorks mission to accelerate the pace of discovery in science and technology, the Academic Grant License Specialist will work cross-functionally with Development, Marketing, Finance, Sales, and other teams to implement processes and practices that ensure that grant decisions and exchanges are made based on rational plans that deliver sufficient value to The MathWorks and that those arrangements are monitored and managed over time effectively and efficiently.  This individual will work in the Partner Programs group and will be responsible for the coordination, management, and implementation of academic grants and product exchanges implemented with third parties.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

? Working with proposal sponsors to develop concise, thoroughly documented grant and exchange proposals, sharing license model options and implementation considerations as appropriate

? Coordinating the review and approval of those proposals by the appropriate management team(s) both at initial set up and upon annual renewal

? Working with sales to identify account considerations and implications of the proposals

? Maintaining and enhancing tools and best practices to manage, document, and communicate information about these grants and exchanges including maintaining information in relevant systems

? Working with Finance when there are tax and other financial implications of exchanges

? Working with System Services to get third-party hardware and software that MathWorks receives as part of exchanges incorporated into the asset management system

 

Qualifications:

? A college degree required

? Seven to ten years work experience

? Demonstrated ability to solve problems, individually and with a group, while balancing the needs of the customer and the company

? A proven record of delivering exceptional customer service and working effectively in a fast paced, team environment

? Demonstrated knowledge of software licensing models a plus

? Strong relationship management skills

? Strong project management skills

? Strong written and verbal communications skills

? Strong negotiation and account analysis skills

? Strong computer skills

? Experience with contact management software a plus
