Smart Transitions employees are experts in the transition of conceptual designs into early prototype construction and experimentation.  All positions are full time at our Arlington, VA, headquarters.  ST is seeking a well-rounded individual to satisfy a requirement for an Analytic Sensor Systems Algorithm and Software Developer position. It is of paramount importance to exceed our client expectations with high integrity and focused attention to milestones. In addition to working well in a team environment, as a successful candidate you will incorporate the following:

 

Requirements: We seek a senior and highly skilled developer of spectral processing software or an equivalent. The candidate should possess an MS or Ph.D. level degree and be capable of working with teammates who are members of the academic community. We highly prefer a candidate who can perform the necessary spectral processing-based algorithm development and convert those algorithms into operational C-code, and who can work effectively with real time software engineers in its implementation. The candidate must possess active security clearances or be eligible to receive such clearances; TS/SCI a plus.

 

Responsibilities: In supporting ST?s chemical spectroscopy-based sensor systems, we must provide detailed classification and quantification of specified sets of analyte chemical species based upon spectral signatures associated with each such species where the analyte?s spectral data resides within the device?s analyte library. Signal processing begins with the acquisition of digital data from the spectrometer receiver module and the rendering of that data into formats that can be processed efficiently (very near real time) in a micro processor against the analyte library resident in ROM. The overall system precision required in terms of ROC performance of these systems is very great. This scope of this position covers all aspects of signal acquisition, species detection, analysis and quantification (e.g., ppm of ingested atmospheric samples) of each analyte assigned by the system sweep software for assay. The candidate in addition will formulate or assist in the formulation of algorithms for the efficient subinterval sweep within the instrument?s overall operating frequency band for any specified subgrouping of analytes within the instrumented analyte library. Construction of simulations of all aspects of the overall signal processing algorithm and software system software is essential and must form the basis for ROC statistic measurements and estimates as well as the first stage to operational code design/test.

Additional related work may involve the temporal and spectral assessment (detection, classification, force count) of military targets of interest in the acoustic and other sensory regimes as part of ST?s microsensor programs. Work will also involve advanced development/refinement of system tracking functions for individual and arrayed sensors.
