Description: This position is responsible for the development of software packages, including testing and distributing software to the workstation. This software position will play a key role in developing and maintaining installation packages. The candidate will work primarily as the engineer developing and maintaining MSI and other installation packages for windows based desktops and laptops.

 

Main Job Duties/Responsibilities: ? Has expert knowledge in 2 or more mission critical technologies. Stays up-to-date on developments in technology and has a broad practical knowledge of many technologies. ? Works on problems of diverse scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Handles multiple, moderately sized assignments simultaneously. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and standards in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining results. ? Investigates and resolves problems found during development of scripts and during product testing. ? Designs and implements software packages for product installation and/or upgrades, backups and restores. ? Teams closely with SMS group, product testers, application owners, and other technology management groups.

 

Job Qualifications REQUIREMENTS KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION ? Knowledge - Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. ? B.S Highly Desired JOB EXPERIENCE ? 3-5 Years with B.S. Experience should show progressively complex assignments in information management systems, troubleshooting, problems solving, support services, etc. 3 to 5 years Application packaging in a multi-site environment with 5000+ nodes. SKILLS/COMPETENCIES ? Package installation and troubleshooting ? Good written and verbal communication skills ? Solid understanding of scripting and solid track record of packaging output. ? Remote Troubleshooting: Use of the remote control feature for troubleshooting problems ? Work directly with end-users in analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving application support issues that application package related to PC configurations. ? Experience in scripting tools such as Wise Scripting logic, VBScript, WinBatch, and batch files. ? Experience in creating packages using Wise Packaging Studio or Wise for Windows Installer. ? Experience in working with Microsoft windows registry system. ? Knowledge of the Windows Installer. ? Problem Solving - Develops technical solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. ? Decision /Latitude - Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results. ? Impact - Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives. ? Liaison - Interacts with client and other teams to solve application/packaging problems. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ? Be able to work in an office environment and work with computer systems, programming tools etc. PREFERENCES ? Knowledge of Wise and Installshield packaging tools ? Experience with MST?s (Transforms) and MSP?s (Patches) ? Windows Installer ? Process automation ? Testing methodologies ? VB Scripts
