The Associate Consultant works as a consulting team member on software development, enhancement, or integration projects. The Associate Consulting position will be responsible to analyze, write, modify, and repair software programs based on specifications typically provided by other software engineers and systems analysts. The ability to think logically and to perform exacting analytical work, especially under pressure is important. Other desired qualities are patience, persistence, and close attention to detail.

Duties are usually performed within the context of a project team, and Associate Consultants must be experienced in testing their work for potential failures. The ability to work with abstract concepts and to do detailed technical analysis is also important.

The Associate Consultant is expected to interact directly with software users and non-technical personnel. They may work alone on simple assignments after some initial instruction, or they may be assigned to work on a team with more experienced members. Associate Consultants will generally work under fairly close supervision.

 

The Associate Consultant performs software development and/or analytical activities under close supervision on small to medium-size projects. These projects may involve multiple software languages, products, and/or platforms.

 

The Associate Consultant usually reports to the Project Manager or Team Leader, and requires one to two years of experience in application design, software development, technical support, or consulting with a proficient level of expertise and skill in one or more programming languages. Experience working with Service-Oriented Architectures and with Web Services is highly desirable.

 

Duties may be performed within Gestalt?s offices or at a customer?s site.Minimum of 0-2 year experience working in the role of a software developer within a technology consulting firm, or within an Information Technology organization in a mid-to-large size corporation. Knowledge of Java (including J2SE and J2EE), JDBC, Swing, XML, XSL, Unix, Windows, Oracle, and/or SQL Server. Knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture and Web Services. Knowledge of, and some experience with, software build frameworks (such as MAKE, ANT, MAVEN, etc.) and unit test frameworks (such as JUNIT). Experience with J2EE applications server middleware. Experience with databases and database products such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, etc. Experience developing software applications in languages such as Java, C++, C, or C#. Knowledge of Software Quality and Testing processes. Knowledge of CMMI is desirable. Knowledge of applications, systems, and component design techniques and methodologies. Knowledge of Agile Methodology or Extreme Programming is a plus Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Willing to travel up to 20%. Eligible to obtain a DOD clearance (US Citizen with no criminal record).A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
