Associate Software Engineer



GENERAL SUMMARY: Assists in the analysis, design, development, and implementation of operating systems and application programs; works under direct supervision; performs additional duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assists in the design and coding of Cold/Fusion and SQL Server software product components, units, and modules according to detailed specifications; 2. Participates in the design, coding, testing, and debugging of new software or enhancing existing software. 3. Participates in the analysis and development of test plans. 4. Provides test results and recommends corrections to more experienced software engineers. 5. Participates in the writing and updating of technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials. 6. Troubleshoots problems and provides customer support for software operating system and application issues. 7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. 8. Participates in special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1. Typically requires 0 to 1 year of related experience in software development. 2. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in software and systems development; 2. Proficiency in the use of one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment. 3. Experience in customer based Cold Fusion/ SQL Server development; 4. Experience in Cold fusion reporting tools, Flash forms, building reusable functions, data driven pages and repots; 5. Data modeling and process modeling a plus; 6. Experience or exposure in the use and application of IBM Domino Web development, Formula Language, and Lotus Script a plus; 7. Knowledge of Lotus Notes Application development preferred; 8. Knowledge of Cascading Style Sheets, DB2, SQL, HTML, Java, Javascript, and MS Access desired; 9. Ability to obtain a Secret-level security clearance required; 10. Ability to travel overseas required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Occasional travel to N. VA. may be required. Infrequent travel overseas may be required.
