Business Intelligence Engineer - Data Warehouse

At Amazon it isn’t just our website that is world-class. Our Information Management team collects data from across Amazon and adds value to it through integration, cleansing, long term retention, and optimization for high performance access. That information is exposed to users through a variety of services and products and is used for reporting and analytical purposes by hundreds of analysts, business managers and partners on a daily basis. Our business intelligence engineers build corporate business intelligence solutions that provide to C-level executives metrics necessary to the daily business decisions pulling information from our multiple terabyte data warehouse. The state of art tools for data storage and for reporting are supported by a core team of ETL engineers, data content developers and data mining analysts, with integrated functions.  Exciting reporting solutions vary from inventory and financial reporting applied to the retail industry to metrics indicating manager’s effectiveness of the sales cycles, inventory tracks and improvements on the customer experience. This position will also help to build the next generation of Amazon’s analytic platform to provide vertical business analysis solutions for the retail business users. Proof of your ability to effectively explain technical options and limitations to both technical and non-technical audiences is required. The analyst will be responsible for real-time operational support of reporting and analytical platforms, covering the team's functional areas as well as brainstorming features and ideas.

 



 

All candidates must have Oracle 9i (minimum), 10G (desirable) experience. Extensive knowledge of SQL and analytical functions for data retrieval are extremely necessary to the candidate’s success in this role.
Notable work developing reports using Cognos Reports Net platform for large data environments are highly necessary. Candidates must be innovative, creative, flexible, self-directed, and understand how to design and write high-performance, reliable and maintainable reporting solutions. Your ability to quickly adapt to new development environments, changing business requirements and learning from the data is required. A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a relevant area is also required. Experience with large database driven web sites or applications is highly desired.Experience building business intelligence portals is desired.
