C/C++ Unix Programmer

Stevens Capital Management LP specializes in developing and implementing sophisticated investment strategies for a $3 + billion hedge fund. We are located 20 miles from downtown Philadelphia, and, as we expand we are looking for talented and motivated individuals for the following position:

Senior C/C++ Unix/Linux Programmer



Join our team developing and administering leading edge, non-stop, global 24/7 financial trading systems. We develop real-time trading applications utilizing the latest Sun, AMD, and Intel hardware, software, and libraries (including Sun servers, Solaris 9, RedHat Linux, Intel Xeon, AMD Opteron, Purify, Quantify, Sybase, and Tibco). You will work with a small but demanding in-house group of 20 technical and 20 non-technical users. To grow our team, we seek a highly talented C developer to work on various components of our trading systems ? enhancing the existing systems, developing new applications and directly supporting traders. Systems range from small Motif viewers to complex real-time computational servers. Developers work independently on projects and in collaboration with other developers.



This is not a traditional development environment; this is a fast paced development environment where the goal is to get from idea to implementation as quickly as possible, while maintaining high stability and robustness. Projects would typically include a mix of short term (1-2 days), mid term (1-3 week) and long term (1-6 month) developments.

Primary Responsibilities:
Developing real-time, X Window GUI displays for financial trading systems using C in a Unix environment.
Working with distributed, multithreaded systems.
Developing new software as well as enhancing existing systems.
Fast paced development environment.
A very technical role - 10% analysis, 90% programming.



Essential skills:
C/C++ Unix Programming.
X Window programming using Motif or QT
Unix programming.
Multithreaded programming.



Requirements of the Candidate include:
5+ years of professional C programming experience in a UNIX environment.
Programming experience with X Window (Motif or QT) and multithreaded technologies.
Comfortable with programming in a production environment.
Experience with large projects.
Degree in Computer Science / Engineering or closely related field.
Stable career history.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience with Tibco/Rendezvous a plus.
Experience with Sybase/SQL a plus
