C++ Programmer Analyst – Index Arbitrage Trading – New York City

The company is a large international bank focusing on 3 main businesses

-  Corporate and Investment Banking

-  Asset Management and Services

-  Retail Banking

 

This position is in the Equities and Derivatives group in the Capital Markets space. This position is for joining a team developing and maintaining a 3rd tier application for a Black Box business (index arbitrage). Advanced C++ is a must. The ideal profile is a Quant Programmer that worked for a similar business. You will handle high volumes and high frequency - so code optimization is key.

 

Job description:

The job will consist of doing support and development with support part being one third of the total work time.

 

* Support: you will be responsible for keeping our trading system up and running. You will configure the applications, the infrastructure, develop utilities to make the system reliable and performant. You will be first-line support to diagnose problems and solve them.

Your maintenance/production/support tasks concern :

  - trading applications

  - the database (Oracle)

  - applications handling market data

  - interface with the order sending system

  - trading automatons

 

* Development: you'll take part in the improvement of the trading system by playing an active role in the design and implementation of existing or new applications.

You will then:

  - interact with traders

  - do development on the trading system: bug corrections / upgrades / new features

  - deliver and maintain new applications (C++, python)

 

Challenges:

* The existing platform is highly complex: significant number of different applications used. Working with lot of legacy code and fine tuning the same.

* Time to market is extremely important

* Working with an international team

* Work with demanding traders and respond to client requirements

* High frequency trading

* Complex trading system that manages market data, trading applications, automatons, and order sending.

 

Requirements:

* Strong technical skills: programming (c++, python, multithreading), system (linux/solaris), TCP/IP, Oracle/Sql

* Ability to understand and react quickly to system issues, in a high stress and challenging environment

* Experience delivering high performance real time trading systems

* Knowledge in capital markets / basket trading systems is required

* You must be curious, autonomous, performance driven and be able to respond to challenges

* Small group within a large bank: the person should be flexible and adaptable
