COBOL Programmer Analyst

Sally Beauty Company is the world?s largest wholesale and retail distributor of beauty supplies.  Our corporate office is conveniently located in Denton, TX, just north of Lake Lewisville off of I35.

 

We currently have an opening for a COBOL Programmer Analyst.  The person in this position, working under the general direction of the Project Manager of the Retail Systems Group, performs all aspects of the applications programming, and any future systems, at the highest technical level within the Retail Systems Group.  This person will ultimately (within the next 2 ? 3 years) migrate to the new POS team and will have the opportunity to learn/use VB.net.

 

Primary Duties:

 Gain a complete knowledge of the POS System, Communication Network, Support Tracking, Hardware Tracking, and any future systems.Develop and maintain existing programs for the aforementioned Retail Systems.Provide technical support to Retail Support POS personnel on an as needed basis.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 Must have strong skills (4+ years of experience) programming in COBOL in a PC environment (RM or Microsoft COBOL). VB6 applications development experience is a plus.TSQLMS DOSMust be detail oriented, self-motivated, and be able to work as part of a team.Must have strong verbal communication skills and be able to present information to both a technical and business audience.Must have an understanding of source control techniques and practices.Must understand full SDLC concepts and have had exposure to quality processes.Point of Sale development experience is preferred, but not required.Development experience with enterprise-level relational databases is preferred, but not required.
