Technology Capacity Planner

 

Responsible for developing capacity plans for applications that support business services. Responsibilities will include: gathering business requirements from application owners; collecting technical and utilization data to help in the creation of capacity models; and generation of capacity utilization reports. The Technology Capacity Planner must prepare capacity plans containing current server configurations, workload forecasts, service level expectations and constraints for each modeled application.

 

Key Responsibilities:Developing capacity solution recommendations.Collecting system configuration and performance  informationCollecting current system capacity and resource utilizationPerforming workload characterizationsCreating baseline capacity modelsModeling of various solutions to fulfill capacity requirementsDeveloping of capacity planning reportsAnalyzing trendsAssisting in troubleshooting and identifying performance or capacity issues.Developing and overseeing load tests.

 

Required Skills:Extensive knowledge of client-server technology.Extensive knowledge of network hardware and protocols.Knowledge of measurement and reporting tools such as BMC Patrol Perform Predict.Knowledge of enterprise monitoring tools such as BMC Patrol.Knowledge of synthetic transaction applications such as Mercury Loadrunner.Experience with major subsystems such as Oracle, MQ, MSMQ, IIS and J2EE.

 

 

Other SkillsKnowledge of ITIL Service Delivery Capacity ManagementKnowledge and/or understanding of as least one industry recognized CMDB.
