Cognos 8 Developer

Vedior North America is searching for a Cognos 8 Developer to work under the direct supervision of a Project Manager.  This person will be responsible for assisting the business clients in defining and documenting their reporting, data access and information delivery needs. Also, responsible for the design, implementation and testing of high quality solutions using Cognos 8.


1) Application skills: extensive Cognos 8 or ReportNet and PowerPlay experience. Proficiency with SQLPlus or some other SQL command line utility. Knowledge of web portal technology. ERWIN experience a plus. Composite Information Server experience a plus. Experience with Cognos 8 SDK a plus. Understanding of MVC (model view controller) design patterns a plus.

2) Business Intelligence: must have metadata modeling and report authoring expertise. Must have proficiency with RDBMS (DB2, Oracle) and OLAP technologies. Expertise in OLTP/OLAP (and variations), E-R modeling and development of database schemas. Experience with data extraction and transformation. Knowledge of basic data warehousing. . Must be able to build a metadata model against heterogeneous DBMS.

3) General: Results-oriented with exceptional analytical, problem solving and communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and professional presence.
