Computational Linguist

The IBM Global Name Recognition (GNR) team, the recognized leader in automated name processing technologies (including name matching, analysis, and annotation), develops software to enhance global anti-fraud, security, and decision support applications. GNR is seeking an experienced computational linguist to develop innovative strategies for name matching, to design and build knowledge bases for use by our software, to contribute to the improvement of existing applications, and to design and produce materials for linguistic quality assurance testing of all applications. Job responsibilities will include rapid prototyping in perl or another scripting language for proof of concept. Major Field of Study Computational Linguistics, or Computer Science, with experience in Linguistics or NLP. Requirements include experience with computational solutions to natural language problems; Rapid prototyping in Perl or Java; Excellent writing and communications skills; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Linguistics; Must work well in teams with technical and non-technical peers.
