Computer Operator - 1st Shift

One of our Clients located in Warren, Pa has an immediate, contract opportunity for a Computer Operator- 1st Shift.

Operates computers, all associated peripheral equipment such as storage devices (tape and disk), printers, terminals, operating system software, and other software subsystems to complete work assignments within the scheduled timeframe. Assures production processing requirements are met according to schedules.

Independently monitors applications and associate hardware, ensuring expected results are obtained on a regular basis. Determines proper job setup and consistently enters correct console responses, job control language (JCL) modifications, and requested assignments for devices and media.

Possess a working knowledge of techniques and procedures for problem determination, operating principles for all hardware and software, schedule workflow, and tape rotation/retention Manipulates or corrects basic job control language (JCL) statements, balances required control totals and provides basic help desk assistance to support various customer entities.

Troubleshoots problems with hardware, software and the environment; recommends action to remedy the situation. Identifies system malfunctions, gathers information and corrects by referring to documented instructions and rerun procedures.

Constructs basic procedures and assists with research and development of complex operating procedures to be placed in the Operator Handbook. Utilizes the problem management system, documents all problems encountered on assigned shift. Follows and applies application documentation such as job restart/recovery, flow charts and scheduling interfaces.

Safeguards the Company?s computer related infrastructure, production processing and business information. Monitors data center access, UPS/generator activation, HVAC and fire notification/suppression system. May perform other tasks as assigned.

Education/Experience:
Certificate from college or technical school in Computer Science. Must have 1 to 2 years progressive operations experience as a Computer Operator Trainee in a medium to large Information Services organization.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access. A working knowledge of server and associates peripheral equipment, various operating systems including VSE, UNIX, AIX, AS/400, and WINDOWS; third-party software such as CA-FAQ, CA-AutoSys, CA-DYNAM/T, and BMC-Remedy is required.
