Computer Operator

Reports to Assistant Operations Manager

 

Position Summary:

Will operate, monitor, control and process lottery gaming applications in an IBM RS/6000 UNIX/AIX open system, high transaction environment.  The operator position will also operate and monitor the Indiana telecommunications system via the Remedy system and interact with call center in Alpharetta, Georgia. 

 

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

? Monitor and escalate any system hardware and lottery application failures.

? Monitor application alarms, alerts and threshold levels and respond accordingly.

? Monitor security monitors and escalate matters accordingly.

? Monitor telecommunications system and escalate matters accordingly, this may include opening and monitoring trouble tickets and follow through until problem is resolved.

? Perform various operational functions such as but not limited to data backup and restores, data archival, producing reports and balancing the system. This may or may not be done through pre-defined flow sheets or scripts.

? Verify quality and integrity of system output including reports, files and processes.

? Operate and clean computer peripheral devices such as printers, terminals, and external tape drives.

? Update logs and document work events.

? Keep up to date with new and standard operating procedures.

? Use of LAN and business related applications such as word documents, databases, and spreadsheets to perform tasks.

? Ability to answer the phone and communicate with either customer or local staff personal during critical and non-critical periods of time.

? Good oral and written communication skills.

 

Skills Required:

? At least one-year computer operations experience in the specified system environment or at least two years of experience in a similar system environment.

? Ability to work during the week and weekends, pickup other shifts if needed to help cover schedule gaps
