Configuration Engineer

BASIC PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:

 

Seeking a strong communicator and team player for our source control system.

 

OVERALL OUTPUTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Configuration Engineer is responsible for development of tools that improve the productivity of the entire Software Engineering department. The candidate will develop processes & scripts to implement required ViTAL Images, Inc. source code management functionality. In addition, the candidate will administrate and manage IBM?s Rational ClearCase & ClearQuest tools and ensure proper application of Rational?s Unified Code Management (UCM). Last but not least, she or he will investigate new tools such as UCM multi-site, MS Team system and Team Foundation Server, etc. to unify the source control platform across those teams. Depending on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, this position could be a contributor or a lead role. The ideal candidate will have process experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

-  Must have a BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

-  A minimum of 5+ years experience with the Microsoft Windows operating system environment.

-  A minimum 3+ years experience using & enhancing source control tools

-  Several years experience in administering tools such as IBM Rational?s ClearCase, Perforce, CVS, SourceSafe, VS Team Foundation Server or similar Source Configuration Management tools. Experience administering Rational UCM or base ClearCase is preferred.

-  Fluent in English and excellent verbal and written communication skills

-  Exceptional problem solving skills

-  Ability to organize and manage work effectively in a team environment

-  Aptitude to focus on detailed tasks for concurrent projects

-  Ability to present to peers

-  Experience with process, ability to follow process and to enforce it, if needed and under pressure.

-  1-3 years of software engineering experience

-  Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio C# / VS.NET.

-  Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc).

-  Experience with make system technologies (e.g. VCBuild, MSBuild, NMake, TMake).

-  Applying software engineering processes to their work (e.g. CMM, MIL-STD, etc.)

-  Proficiency with memory, code coverage, code beautification tools, and IDE.

 

Optional other skills:

-  Experience with build and packaging technologies (e.g. InstallShield, MSI)

-  Experience with C++ development (3+ yrs experience), ideally with Microsoft and Intel compilers.

-  Experience with Intel and Microsoft C++ compiler and linker technologies

-  Object Oriented Design and Development. UML experience a plus.

-  Experience with Microsoft VS.NET 2005 technologies including the lifecycle technologies (e.g. Team System and Team Foundation Server).

-  Experience with established software development and build processes (e.g. SCRUM, MSBCT - Microsoft Build Configuration Team).

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Ability to lift, push and pull 40 lbs.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Hours may vary as needs arise.
