CoreServices Network Engineer

As a development engineer for the CoreServices team, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of various networking technologies. This work could include new protocol development and enabling application level features for Mac OS X.

The CoreServices team is responsible for filesystem and networking technologies used by all Mac OS X applications. Because our technologies are so heavily used, high-performance is critical. As part of the Platform Experience team in Mac OS X Engineering, we work closely with application teams (like Safari, Mail, iChat, and the Finder), as well as OS teams who work on the Darwin Core OS.

Responsibilities include:
- designing networking subsystems as a part of feature development
- creating network- and filesystem- related features for OS X
- improving existing APIs for internal and external developers
- improving our overall network performance
- improving the portability of our code base
- improving the interoperability of our implementation


Required Experience:
- MS Computer Science or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of C/C++, object-oriented programming and design skills.
- Strong networking knowledge (sockets, HTTP, FTP, Unix and Windows)
- Strong debugging skills (gdb)

Familiarity with the following is preferred:
- Xcode, Visual Studio, Objective-C, Mac OS X and Windows
- Unix command-line environment
- Cocoa application programming
