Description Within our talented and dynamic Insurance & Actuarial Advisory Services group, the Database Administrator will be responsible for the following;

Job Description:

The individuals primary responsibility will be to administer every aspect of the servers maintained in the Atlanta office. The Atlanta server room consists of one Windows-based database server, one Windows-based application server, one Windows-based utility server, two Unix-based file servers, and one robotic tape-backup library.

The individual must be knowledgeable with hardware, software, and limited networking. Server security and overall efficiency must be addressed on a daily basis. There are constant updates and patches to apply each week that are sent from on-line sources such as Microsofts windows update website as well as from internal Ernst & Young sources (TSS).

Daily incremental, as well as weekly differential and full backups, must be monitored for any problems. Individual will be responsible for verifying all backups, rotating tapes, and offsite tape storage. All backups are performed using a 30-cartridge DLT IV robotic library.

The database server is configured solely for the purpose of running Oracle and must remain on-line at all times. Individual must be familiar with Oracle administration and development. This server is accessed and relied upon by multiple users from several offices every day, including weekends. The oracle database requires constant monitoring to ensure that the database is running efficiently and any unnecessary "down-time" is avoided.

The user will also be responsible for loading client data into the oracle database, archiving former clients, and working with the various users of the system to assist them with data development and analysis. Typical development includes using SQL and PL/SQL to develop applications, procedures, functions, and packages for client projects. The individual must be able to work with many project teams to assist them with analyzing data that is stored in the server.

Qualifications

To qualify for this excellent career opportunity, candidates must have:

* an undergraduate or graduate degree inComputer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, and/or other related major
* approximately 2 years of experience in an actuarial-oriented position
* solid computer skills
* excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

The successful candidate must also have working knowledge of the following; Working knowledge of various databases: Oracle (required) SQL Server Microsoft Access DB2 FoxPro
Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel: Macros Procedure and Functions Excel tools and advanced functions Arrays
