Database Systems Manager
UpToDate, Inc. (www.uptodate.com) is a well-established, privately held, electronic publisher of synthesized information for clinically oriented physicians. Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a highly motivated professional to join our software development team as our Database Systems Manager.
As the manager of the Database Systems team, you will be responsible for the day to day people and project management of the Database Systems team, which consists of 3 experienced database developers who work on:
? The software implementation of database systems. This software includes such items as stored procedures, table layouts, indexing strategies, and efficient queries.
? Developing and executing implementation plans for the database systems purchased as well as those designed in-house. This includes migration plans when needed.
? Developing and executing support plans for database systems. This includes backup and recovery plans and the testing of these plans. This includes both existing and new database systems.
All design and support plans must take into account the need to provide a 24 by 7 quality of service.
The candidate must use standard software systems methodologies and techniques as well as ?Best Practices? in carrying out the above responsibilities.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate managerial, technical, and design proficiencies in Oracle and MS SQL Server database systems.
This position requires 10 to 15 years experience in developing and supporting commercial database systems in a team oriented environment and a degree in the computer sciences or equivalent.
