Developer Tools Software Development Engineer





The field of business metrics visualization is a key focus area for Amazon.com's Developer Tools team. Visualization is a method of organizing and reporting information that enables teams, their managers and clients to observe trends over time and easily address rapidly changing trends in the business/computing environment.

 





As system instrumentation advances the collection of business metrics, it becomes increasingly important to develop the means to analyze, manage, and communicate the trends explicitly and implicitly contained by the data. Working alongside functioning developer teams, our engineers are developing exciting new visualization tools to maximize the understanding of this generated data.

 





The Developer Tools team researches and applies advances in technology to produce tools that help to enhance the understanding of real and experimental business data. The team also consults with, and assists groups in making the best use of those tools produced by the Developer Tools team. The engineers would employ newest and greatest Java, Web, and Portal development technologies in highly visible projects starting from scope definition through implementation and deployment.

5+ years of industry software experience

Deep understanding of infrastructure software architectural and design issues

Solid with Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA/OOD)

Deep systems-level programming skills in Java/C++ in a Unix/Linux environment

Works well in a team environment and be able to effectively drive cross-team solutions that have complex dependencies and requirements.

Experience of working on an open source messaging product is preferred.

 

Educational Requirements:







 



B.S. in Computer Science or a related field.





M.S. in Computer Science or a related field is strongly preferred.
