This role is part of Dow's Performance Plastics & Chemicals R&D and provides Technical Service and Development support to the Large Appliances market in the North Region of Latin America.  In support of the appliances growth strategy in Latin America, and specifically linked to the move of largest appliance players into Mexico, TS&D specialist will  be responsible to support qualification efforts at new accounts and develop customized solutions for PS/PU systems that will bring differentiation to Dow in a highly competitive marketplace.

 

Examples of goals for this role could include:Drive formulation developments to enable qualification of Dow’s Polystyrene and Polyurethanes’ technologies at new appliances accounts, mostly in Mexico. Provide technical service support to existing customer base and defend Dow’s position by providing technological alternatives to compete with other product offerings available in the market. Identify opportunities for innovative solutions to be offered to this segment, including alternative material replacements (Plastics) and improvement of current application performance targets. Initiate and lead identified initiatives through the use of the Six Sigma methodology, work with multifunctional teams and develop a strong network within the global TS&D/R&D community. Evaluate and prioritize development efforts by assessing financial impact, and involve marketing and commercial functions to gain consensus on the opportunity and alignment with the business strategy.

BS or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Polymer Science.  Candidate will be based in Freeport, TX.Prior experience in TS&D, Green Belt or Black Belt training are desirable.  Fluency in Spanish is a must.Ability to travel 50-70% of any given month is required.
