Director, Product Engineering

Smith and Coulombe, Inc. is an Executive Search Firm with more than 30 years success placing professionals with companies across Southern California. We are currently recruiting for a high profile client in Orange County in need of a Director of Product Engineering:


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following:

? Manage day-to-day activities of hardware, software and electrical engineering efforts

? Manage the SW/HW development timelines to build, enhance and improve new and existing products.

? Hire, Manage, Coach the engineering resources involved in the creation and roll-out of our Instrument product lines in an FDA validation environment

? Interact regularly with executive team and individual departments to ensure that the engineering priorities are aligned with total company direction.

? Actively Interface with other departments to facilitate product development of the various instrument platforms we have including Marketing, Sales, Support, etc.

? Interface, as necessary, with our scientific and clinical thought leaders to translate research developments into the product line


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

? Minimum 7 years managing engineering groups through the full life cycle instrument development

? Demonstrable experience managing teams which work on loosely coupled yet highly cohesive software components and multi-tier applications.

? Develop software requirements specifications and design descriptions

? Demonstrable experience working in an ISO certified and FDA regulated environment

? A thorough understanding and working experience with the requirements for FDA clearance of reagents and instrumentation is also required, along with a working knowledge of GMP standards

? Advanced training in cell/ molecular biology, immunology, or pathology (or equivalent accomplishment based on previous employment record) is desired.

? Analytical approach to problem solving

? Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, team environment

? Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

? Strong organizational skills

? Strong leadership abilities in a rapidly changing environment

? Excellent project management and multi-tasking skills. Attention to detail is critical.

? Must have shipped completed software products in the past and have managed teams that have shipped products in the past.

? Demonstrable experience in Medical software development practices are a plus.

? Demonstrable experience in product development for non-US markets a plus

? Demonstrable experience in mentoring and guiding employees is required
