Distributed Storage Architect-Exp.
Description:
Associate will join our team currently responsible for supporting both Network Attached Storage(NAS), Fibre Channel Storage Area Networks (SAN) solutions throughout Hewitt Associates and tape backups hardware, software and media management.
Responsibilities:
Storage Area Network architect and maintenance for Unix, Netware and Windows environments
Implement, migrate to and Support NAS/SAN environments worldwide
Storage device hardware configuration implementation
Evaluate computability of storage and backup technologies with new server hardware; new operating systems and application
Participate in Disaster Recovery Planning
Work with platform teams and regional support teams to address business problems
Provide daily support of our heterogeneous server environment in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Will help set strategic direction for our open systems centralized storage solutions (Product evaluations, vendor relationships, systems support, etc...).
Communicate strategy and direction of environment to systems support teams worldwide.
Qualifications:
Education/Certificate:
BS or BA desired
Experience:
Experience in support of Unix, NetWare or Windows NT infrastructure. Experience architecting large complex SAN and NAS environments is a must. experience in information technology infrastructure support related experience a plus.
Technical Skills:
Troubleshooting skills experience required
Desire to learn network protocols and network topology
Knowledge of backup hardware/software a plus
Unix operating system experience a plus
Functional Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills a must
Detail oriented and organizational skills a must
Project management experience is preferred
Rotating 24x7 on call support
5-10% Travel
Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience
