Embedded Flash Certification Support Engineer: Mobile & Devices

Position Summary:

The Embedded Flash Support and Certification Engineer provides certification support to Macromedia partners and customers porting the Flash runtime to mobile devices and consumer electronics.  Through the use of manual and automated testing harnesses this position certifies ports of the Flash player comply with established standards for quality and functionality.  The ideal candidate has experience with Black-Box testing of embedded software on a broad range of consumer electronics devices.  Familiarity with Flash and Action Script is also a plus.  Some international travel (less than 5%) is possible.

 

Responsibilities:

? Run both manual and automated tests contained in the Flash Acceptance Test Suite (ATS) on various non-PC devices to ensure a ported version of the Flash runtime complies with quality and functionality standards.

? Escalate compatibility issues to support management.

? Work with embedded developers and support engineers to ensure ported code complies with ATS compatibility standards.

? Author reports on ATS pass/fail results.

? Act as a primary point of contact for technical issues reported by porting customers and partners.

? Identify and fix bugs in the ATS harness as needed.

 

Knowledge & Skills:

? BS Computer Science or a related technical field.

? Minimum two years experience testing software using standard techniques and tools.

? Demonstrated ability to work on highly visible customer issues and successfully arrive at quality solutions in a timely fashion.

? Ability and desire to learn quickly and meet short deadlines.

? Understanding of JavaScript, HTML and XML, HTTP.

? Strong written and oral communication skills.

? Ability to work on a fast-paced support engineering team.

 

Ideal:

? MS in computer science or related technical field.

? Minimum 2 year experience using handheld devices: mobile phones, smart phones, Symbian, Palm OS, and Pocket PC.

? Minimum 2 years experience developing with Macromedia Flash, including working knowledge of ActionScript or JavaScript/EMCAScript.
