Engineering Program/Project Management Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The successful candidate will collect and report information regarding project progress and accomplishments. This information is typically tracked by creating and maintaining detailed MS project schedules and plans showing deliverables with timelines, dependencies, resources, milestones, etc. Both project (feature/function level) and release level schedules (integrated engineering) should be maintained to meet commitments. Inputs, outputs and hand-offs should also be tracked. Also required are good communication and people skills to work closely with Engineering and test groups in getting schedule information. Ability to work holistically for risk assessments and presenting project progress (plan vs actual) to management and to Program Management/Core team on a regular basis.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills Required:

- Technical background in software development required

- Technical background in telecommunications preferred

- At least 5 years of experience in planning and scheduling in a development environment

- Proficient in the use of MS Project including suite of Office products

- Familiar with schedule optimization techniques and contingency planning.

- Detailed knowledge of development, test and release processes

- Product lifecycle processes (Phase Gates, TTM, Beta, FOA, GA)

- Good written and verbal communication skills interfacing with all levels within an organization.

- Schedule and oversee both regularly scheduled and emergency software releases.

- Able to work within a culturally diverse workplace

- Ability to work in a fast paced and sometimes demanding environment

- Project Management formal education and certification a big plus

- Develop project related metrics to enable continued improvement

- Experience as a software developer is preferred

- Ability to understand technical aspects of the product being developed
