Job Requirements and Description

 

Meet the qualifications for Engineering Technician II (Help Desk/Computer Support).  Two additional years of computer Help Desk support experience and in-depth experience using various office applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, and internet browser in a networked Microsoft Windows environment, or an Associate?s Degree in any area of study with one additional year of information systems support experience in a networked environment, or graduation from an accredited technical institute plus one additional technical certification, e.g.  Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer + Internet (MCSE+I) with one additional year of information systems support experience in a networked environment.  Must be a U.S. Citizen and must be able to obtain and retain a security clearance.

 

Duties:

 

Provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 Help Desk support include receiving, analyzing, researching and resolving client hardware, operating system, application software, peripheral equipment, network and/or connectivity problems including installation, replacement, and upgrade.  Monitors open problem reports and verifies problem resolution with clients.  Assists in instructing staff in the use of standard operating systems, business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, email, and internet browser, providing instruction or written documentation when required.  Makes hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping users assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services.  Assists with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems, maintaining current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology, and recommending modification as necessary.
