The Digital Photography Experience Design group is looking for a system-level experience designer to help lead the evolution of HP’s portfolio of digital photography assets from printer, cameras, software, services, and PCs. HP is building a diverse team of highly talented designers to create the next generation of industry leading digital photography solutions. You will be a key influencer and contributor to this innovative team. As a team member, you will discover users’ spoken and unspoken needs to realize a system of solutions that are more than the sum of individual products, thereby leading to truly useful, compelling, and desirable solutions.





 

Responsibilities:



Influence a cross-functional design team with a vision to innovate seamlessly integrated software, hardware and services solutions that meet business goals across a global market. Contribute to the development of processes and strategies that enhance the design team’s contribution to the business.Design prototypes across the digital photography eco-system that meets customer needs, business goals, and technical feasibility. Identify and manage external consultant resources to augment the employee contributions.



Qualifications





 
A BA/BS or greater degree in Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Information Design, Graphic Design, or equivalent. A multi-disciplinary, or higher level degree is a plus.


Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience designing high-tech or consumer products for global markets within a team environment


Strong visual and graphic design skills- sketching/storyboarding, ability to draw, rapid visualization and ideation creation skills to generate and present ranges of concepts and/or prototypes that are appropriate to specific project objectives. 


Strong information design skills such that you can create design artifacts (i.e. concepts maps, process diagrams, etc.).


Knowledge of digital imaging and digital photography products, software, and existing market is a High Want.


Expertise with media design and digital video is a strong preference.


Familiarity with storytelling would be a big plus!


Strong visual and software interaction design skills. Expertise designing for a combination of hardware and software is a plus.


Experience with HTML, Flash, web based design is a plus.


Expertise in user research methodologies to understand context and that surface unmet needs and be able to translate this understanding in experience solutions.


Ability to work cross-discipline with design, engineering, marketing, and business planning functions.


Ability to persuade others effectively on the merits of a design solution to drive system changes.


Ability to effectively communicate and persuade multiple levels of the organization from VP through individual contributor.


Ability to adapt leadership style to changes in business, product, organization, or individual needs.


Ability to assess, prioritize and make trade-offs against business, technical, and user constraints.


Ability to prioritize between investments in new opportunities vs. sustaining work.
