Experienced Quality Assurance Engineer
Job Description: This position is for a highly experienced QA engineer who will serve as a technical prime for a significant portion of CIFS Stress Testing on NAS Products.
This is a Very Senior position of significant importance for the NAS Stress Testing organization and accordingly will provide a wonderful opportunity for learning, growth and visibility.
Responsibilities include:
Playing a key role in the design and implementation of a (complex) customer-like CIFS environment with multiple domains and various levels of domain security in our existing lab.
Identifying gaps in our current coverage, identifying test development areas and working closely with the test developers on creating the CIFS Test Suite.
As one of the technical SMEs, you will influence the test development of CIFS tests. To do so, you need strong knowledge of CIFS Protocols, Windows Networking and NAS technologies along with software testing methodology, test development, test automation and test execution experience.
Ability to communicate ideas and "product" direction, to collect user requirements from "the customer", and translate these ideas to test development is a must.
Other QA test responsibilities include:
o Installation and upgrade testing
o Assist with test planning and configuration planning
o Troubleshooting test failures to determine if problem is a test, network/environment, or product issue
o Provide sufficient troubleshooting information to the bug tracking system for issues
o Work closely with developers to recreate, isolate and debug issues
Must be a team player, with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface with users.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in CS, EE or related field
3-6 Years of Industry Experience (IT or Storage Administration experience a plus)
Microsoft certification would be a definite plus
Experience in a software development, quality assurance, and/or network management environment. Working knowledge of Network Administration concepts required.
Strong windows architecture knowledge including: Microsoft DDNS, WINS, Group Policy, and Security policies; knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory Architecture and Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Server Operating Systems; Strong understanding of configuring and supporting Microsoft Windows OS technology including AD Forests, Domains, Trusts, LDAP Directories, DHCP, DDNS, WINS, Group Policy, DFS, MSCS, TCPIP, and Registry keys.
Understanding of interfacing a CIFS implementation to other NAS front end to a file system.
Experience as a system administrator implementing Active Directory for a company with several locations and many users would be ideal
Should have a background in troubleshooting windows network, hardware and software issues
Experience configuring, using, and, translating system monitoring and management technologies that use SNMP, Network Monitoring, and Performance Monitoring.
Hands-on work experience in the following areas:
o System Administration of Windows 2003, Windows 2000, NT, and Unix Clients
o Windows Administration (Active Directory, Domain Controller, DHCP servers, NIS Controller)
o Networking concepts (IP, VLAN, Trunking, Fibre-Channel)
o Software programming, Shell scripting, Perl, C or Visual Basic
Exposure in Storage System Administration (Symmetrix and/or CLARiiON experience ideal) and/or File server (NAS) System Administration
