RESPONSIBILITIES

? Provide advice on governance of projects and ensure compliance with relevant standards

? Be totally familiar with industry standard and project management techniques and their application in a real project environment

? Promote the project office services to teams and managers

This individual will work with the management team/ project managers / delivery managers to develop and manage robust processes that demonstrate project compliance with relevant standards and confidence in delivery.  Success will be achieved through influence and networking with colleagues.  The individual will have sufficient experience of the basic role attributes to implement consistent processes and improvements.

 

This Financials PMO Manager role provides a support service to enable decision making through the timely production of consistent program/project management information.  The Financials PMO Manager will work as a member of the PMO leadership team to:

? Develop and maintain working relationships with delivery managers, program/project managers, working committees, governance boards, and PMO financial manager

? Maintain an understanding of the project portfolio and provide coaching in areas such as project planning/reporting, risk/issue management, budgeting/forecasting, resource management, ensuring quality assurance, communications and team development

? Ability to develop new project management standards and processes to continuously improve project performance and enhance the capability of project managers to deliver high quality projects on time and within budget

? Mentor/advise program and project manager in project management standards, tools and processes including project development cycle.

? Provide assessment of IT projects and development of portfolio presentations and reporting documents

? Ability to drive consistency of standards in key project artifacts sharing best practices

? Mentor project managers in Microsoft Project and Scheduling techniques to ensure all projects are properly base lined with appropriate level of activities and resource leveling to provide accurate forecasts and variance analysis

? Work with project/delivery managers, promote use of project management tools, assessing level of adoption, and advising on improvements

? Review project health using standard tools and developing routine reporting for management review

? Conduct/Coordinate Peer Reviews

? Assist and coach project managers in defining quantifiable business cases for projects, benefits identification/tracking and project initiation documentation

? Assist in annual planning process and respond to adhoc requests from management

? This role will help support enterprise tool sets such as Planview and EPM.

REQUIRED SKILLS

? 6+ years technical IT experience of which at least 3 years have been in a project management role

? Full project lifecycle ?application development/delivery & package implementation

? Experience of structured process environments

? Demonstrable experience of supporting the planning and scheduling of IT major program/projects

? Ability to conduct financial analysis/forecasting as well as basic accounting for projects

? A good knowledge of software development practices

? Experience of having worked in a pressurized, commercial environment

? A confident person ? articulate, bright and outward-facing with a good sense of humor

? A pro-active, energetic professional with strong communication and networking skills

? Experience of managing internal client relationships

? Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project

? Good problem solving and analytical skills

DESIRED SKILLS

? PMP Certification

? Business change experience

? Strong understanding of Project Management Standards

? Experience with MS EPM or other project scheduling tools
