Business Environment
Join our dynamic and exciting R&D product development group in Vancouver, Washington. We develop connectivity technologies for the HP industry-leading inkjet product lines focused on home and small business customers. This is a firmware development position reporting to a project manager in the R&D connectivity lab.
As a firmware design engineer you will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, performance, testing, and quality for low-level Ethernet firmware for inkjet products. You will make design changes to firmware to support and validate a variety of ASICS. You will review requirements, specifications, and designs to ensure product quality and will develop and implement plans and tests to meet product quality and performance goals. This position requires strong team work with other engineers, including firmware, software, and hardware.
Education
Bachelor's (undergraduate), Master's (graduate), or Ph.D. (post graduate) degree in a technical discipline (e.g. computer science, information technology, engineering, math, physics, etc.)
Experience and knowledge
2-5 years of R&D development experience with embedded systems design and analytical ability to research technical issues and generate innovative and creative solutions.
Skills
Must have:
Software development and debugging skills
Embedded development with C programming language
Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
Fluency in English and local language (if applicable)
Highly desired:
Strong knowledge of Ethernet protocols
Familiarity with ASICS and low-level hardware drivers
Previous experience with ARM processors
