Job Description:
This position will join members of the DTVS project team responsible for the development of an exciting HDTV product line.The major responsibilities for this Electrical Development Engineer for Digital TV's and multimedia technologies include, but are not limited to, the following:
Bring to market latest in technologies for Digital HDTV solutions.
Work with internal Marketing to help define HDTV solutions and differentiators for digital entertainment products.
Evaluate designs and complete engineering reviews for these components and technologies.
Drive high quality solution design working with OEM partners, silicon suppliers and industry partners.
Develop engineering specifications and component requirements; develop solutions to achieve and exceed expectations of marketing and customer requirements.
Develop project schedules and drive projects to successful completion.
Manage risks associated with the delivery of your project and maintain suitable backup options.
Experience with developing systems solutions, particularly in the development of TV or related electronics with a background in hardware, software and firmware, a deep understanding of TV tuners, MPEG and related decoders and user interfaces. Of particular interest are those individuals who have a prior background and/or understanding of the Commercial TV market such as the implementation of solutions to interface with LodgeNet and OnCommand systems. The individual must be comfortable to work at all levels of design from overall systems architecture to the definition and development of specification to the physical implementation and testing of the end product in the final application.
Clear understanding and capable of module development to latest HDTV standards such as ATSC, HD support for 480i/480p/1080i/720p/1080p, HDMI, MPEG, etc.
Drive all levels of integration of hardware design, interface with groups responsible for the embedded software design, and understand, troubleshoot and the resolution of testing of hardware and software of HDTV solutions.
Thorough understanding and system definition of products in the DE standards such as DLNA, uPnP, Intel Viiv, etc.
Assist the organization in maintaining system quality throughout the product lifecycle.
Solve many technically challenging and organizational complex issues.
Ensure all designs work together and deliver to system specification requirements.
This position is located in Cupertino, CA and is not open to a virtual work environment.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or related field of study with a minimum of 8 years related experience. Master's degree is preferred.

Experience in the TV architectures and other industry technologies required for developing internet connected devices.
Digital and Analog design experience; Semiconductor Design fundamentals; Circuit Design, Layout, and Manufacturing Techniques; EMC considerations — design and test
Design experience with analog and digital TV tuners, color decoding circuits, 3D comb filters, scalars, and graphics and video sub systems.
Knowledge and experience with consumer multimedia electronics devices and standards.
Knowledge and experience with broadcast television standards (NTSC, PAL, ATSC, DVB, etc).
Knowledge of graphics system architecture and processing.
Software design experience highly desirable.
Expertise in one or more of these areas: analog, mechanical, SIC/PAL/PLD, PC board, power system, or high level system design; computer server and I/O technologies, micro-processing, CAD tools/languages (Cadence, Mentor, Solid Designer, SPICE, Synopsis, Verilog, VHDL), electrical signal analysis, thermo analysis, USB firewire, VLSI design/architecture, etc.
