IIS / Windows Systems Administrator

OVERVIEW:

For this position, with a world-renowned computing company based in Redmond, WA, you will be assisting with the management of a large scale IT environment using Windows, IIS, and SQL.

 

Your responsibilities will include:
Troubleshooting complex distributed computing problems
Performing day-to-day live-site investigations
Proactively identifying, investigating, and resolving faults in the run-time production environment
Coordinating with engineers to help define and develop service automation, monitoring, and reporting components
Providing systems statistical trending and analysis, threshold testing, systems documentation maintenance, and feedback for future revisions of the service
Monitoring and analyzing live-site operations
Improving and optimizing day to day operations
Performing root cause analysis of service interrupting incidents and developing / implementing strategies to prevent their recurrence
Building automation solutions and tools to optimize service management
Participating in cross-team activities
Developing statistical models to understand service behavior.
Driving operational improvements upstream into product development efforts
Driving the creation and execution of documentation
Implementing process and procedure improvements to streamline and optimize work performed
Developing service maintenance systems for security and patch management
Coordinating network design and implementation reviews
Participating in hardware evaluations, reviews, and new product development
Reviewing service specification and driving operational requirements through architecture and design reviews
Implementing operations acceptance testing process and procedures

 

REQUIREMENTS:
3+ years of system administration background for Windows and IIS based systems.
2+ years of software development experience for Windows platforms
In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, XML, the .NET Framework, TCP/IP protocols, security hardening procedures, and tools for Windows/IIS/SQL
Experience managing production systems and applications built on Microsoft platforms, including Windows servers and SQL Server database systems
Proficiency with CLI tools to manage Microsoft Windows Server based systems
Understanding of system monitoring and application monitoring frameworks
Automation experience in a production environment
Experience building and deploying Windows based systems
BS in CS or related field
Experience with data analysis and statistical tools a plus
MCSE certification preferred
Experience managing and administering email systems (such as Microsoft Exchange)  in an IT environment or internet service preferred
Understanding of network systems administration and ability to analyze network traffic patterns a plus
