IT Project Manager

This position will entail working with a San Jose team as well as some geographically dispersed staff. Therefore, the PM must be able to work with a diverse client base, be a team player and build solid, positive team dynamics. This position doesn't require the PM to have a software development background; however, they must have a basic understanding of Perl and Java, as well as exposure to UNIX and Windows. Linux knowledge would be a big plus. The depth of understanding of these technologies must be at a level where the PM understands the tasks that the individual team members are doing.

There are two main projects:
1) EIR (EMAN in a rack): Manage world wide EMAN infrastructure. Currently there are 13 sites world wide that have EMAN servers running. Each site has 30-40 EMAN servers running. World wide this totals ~480 servers. Responsibilities in this area include managing ongoing support and system administration for the servers. Also, there is a need to develop plans to replace the current Windows and Unix systems with Linux boxes and keep everything running seamlessly during the migration. The PM will be responsible for planning the project to replace the existing Unix servers with Linux boxes. There is no designated staff currently in the remote locations, so the PM will be tasked with coordinating with the global onsite teams that can allocate time to the data centers to do the migration. The migration must be completed without an interruption in service. The PM will be responsible for running the migration projects, including, but not limited to, the project planning and cost analysis, thus experience with the procurement process for an enterprise scale environment would be a huge plus.
2) Epage: The PM will also be responsible for maintaining Epage, client's world-wide paging service for employees, up and running. The Epage service is already in place and, at this time, the PM would function in a support role. A secondary effort on ePage is the planning around a migration of client's paging infrastructure to a Linux data center environment.

* 5-10 years of PM experience (strongly preferred in an Enterprise Scale environment)
* Bachelor's degree in CS, Math, Engineering
* IT background: infrastructure, HW/SW infrastructure systems and processing platforms
* Knowledge of and proficiency with project management tools and techniques using a structured project lifecycle (PLC)
* Exceptional organization, planning, schedule estimation, time management and communication (written and verbal) skills
