Position Overview

The Instructional Designer is responsible for the development of educationally appropriate content for SCORE!'s software products.  Working with subject matter experts in K-12 Math, s/he develops the scope and sequence for each subject/grade, define the unit and lesson level content map and student experience, and insure the pedagogical integrity of the content and assessments as they are developed by curriculum staff.  S/he also assists in the development of reports for various stakeholders including SCORE! staff, parents, students, and others as needed.  Additionally, the Instructional Designer provides critical input towards the design of the diagnostic and prescriptive logic embedded in the SCORE! Learning Management System as well as the correlation of learning objectives to key state standards.  The Instructional Designer reports to the VP of Educational Affairs.

 

Responsibilities

?  Develop requirements for instructional design utilizing the specific needs of the SCORE! customer and staff.

?  Develop basic templates and presentation formats for effective instructional presentation of direct instruction components, practice items, and assessment items as well as unit and lesson structure.

?  Working with subject matter experts, develop scope and sequence and the associated taxonomy for learning objectives and correlation to items.

?  Develop report formats reflective of specific requirements of SCORE! staff, customers, and other stakeholders.

?  Develop development and QA style guides and editorial standards. 

?  Oversee curriculum developers and review final content to insure consistency and adherence to style guides and standards.

?  Attend outside vendor training sessions and accumulate required knowledge of SCORE! software products.

?  Serve as key strategic member of the SCORE! software development team, providing input on technical matters, as well as general strategic issues.

?  Other tasks as needed.

 

 

 

 

Required Skills

?  Bachelor?s Degree or equivalent in Instructional Design and/or curriculum development.  Mathematical background strongly preferred.

?  Five to eight years experience in the creation of online instructional software utilizing common standards for interactivity, engagement, and assessment, especially for K-12.

?  Good knowledge of online development methodologies, including learning content management systems, presentation formats (including HTML and Flash), and the constraints of self-instruction based web presentation.

?  Excellent communication and requirements gathering skills working in collaboration with subject matter experts and business stakeholders.
