POWTEC is looking for a Java Developer to work at our customer site with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). This individual will be part of an established and respected team of developers and IT Architects designing and implementing solutions for the Federal Government. The USDA was created in 1862 by Abraham Lincoln and leads the Federal anti-hunger effort, stewardship over 192m acres, largest conservation agency, research leader in nutrition and crops, responsible for safety of food and ensures open markets for US products.

Software Development:
Basic to Intermediate understanding with current Development Standards (e.g. J2SE, J2EE)
Ability to develop requirements with assistance
Develop and deploy Web applications
Develop Messaging Schemes
Setup IDE environment (WSAD or Eclipse based)

Implementation:
Ability to understand design documents as provided by Architects (ability to read UML diagrams desired)
Create Multi-Process builds

Processes:
Ability to define processes
S/W Configuration Management Agent

Documentation:
Ability to determine required documentationAbility to identify technical risks

Desired abilities:
Familiarity and understanding of UML
Must have Java experience, 3+ Years experience preferred, J2EE development
Sun Certified Java Programmer Certification a plus
Familiarity with WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Studio Application Developer
Familiarity with Ant, JUnit, Struts, Web Services
