Java Software Engineer

Java Software Engineer     Sensus Metering Systems, a leading worldwide provider of water, gas, and electric meters; clamp and coupling products; and Automated Meter Reading (AMR) systems has an immediate opening for a Java Software Engineer in Alpharetta, Georgia.

 

This position will design, develop, implement, maintain, and document, Java-based applications for commercial deployment purposes. The current development team is small, fast, flexible, and has a proud and successful track record. Essential functions, skills and abilities include:

 

?  Design software systems and components.

?  Implement and test new software designs.

?  Prepare various documents including specifications, detailed design descriptions and reports.

?  Manage updates to deployments of the group?s software.

?  Track software-related task progress in various information and issue tracking systems.

?  Ability to interpret and convey technical concepts in an easily understood manner, both verbally and in writing.

?  Good analytical and debugging skills; strong software aptitude and creative ability.

?  Good organizational skills.

?  Self-motivated; ability to work under general supervision; receptive and supportive of team efforts.

 

Candidates for this position should possess a BS in Computer Science and 5 plus years of experience or an MS in Computer Science with 2-3 years of experience.  Experience should include 4+ years with the following development technologies: Java, Spring, SQL, JDBC, Hibernate, and JMS. Additional professional experience should include  network application programming techniques such as routing and message queuing; and experience developing software in a UNIX/Linux environment using standard source code control and issue tracking techniques.
