Lead Developer - Infrastructure (4061)

Position Summary:

 

You will be responsible for designing, developing and enhancing the infrastructure layer of the Marimba product line of BMC software.  The candidate would be responsible for organizing and leading major projects from inception to completion. We'll be depending on you to creatively develop solutions to complex problems and to propose interesting and innovative technological directions for the group. You will be required to use your fluent knowledge on a variety of current and emerging technologies as well as your seasoned leadership experience on major projects teams, to understand and integrate Marimba?s core technology strategy with project plans.

 

Duties/Responsibilities of Position:

 

?  Lead the definition, design and release of major software products critical to Marimba?s core technology strategy.

?  Apply advanced technical knowledge in multiple areas to understand and improve current products.

?  Work with peers in other groups to define software standards, explore new technologies and integrate Marimba technology strategy with project plans.

?  Work to improve Marimba?s software development process.

?  Work with the managers and other peers in determining best use of team resources, including schedules and resource allocation.

?  Guide and mentor less experienced software developers.

?  Occasionally interact with customers and partners to solve critical software problems or issues

 

Position Specific Competencies/Skills Required:

 

?  Proficiency in programming languages JAVA, C and C++.

?  Fluent knowledge in HTTP, SSL, XML, HTML and other emerging Internet technologies.

?  Good working knowledge of Win32 APIs and Windows NT/2000 internals.

?  Must be familiar with development tools such as compilers, make, gdb, dbx etc.

?  Must have good understanding of Unix system calls, processes, TCP/IP programming and threading concepts.

?  Candidate must possess strong communication skills and should be a proven team player.

?  Preferably have knowledge of porting systems software between various UNIX platforms (Solaris, AIX, HP-UX) and across various processor architectures. 

?  Preferably have the following additional skills: knowledge of Databases, LDAP, XML, SOAP, HTTP, Security, and XML. 

 

Experience/Education Required/Desired:

 

?  BS in Computer Science and 10+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, e.g. Master?s degree and 8 years experience.

?  3-5 years experience organizing and leading major projects from inception to completion.

?  Sound knowledge of software engineering principles and practices and  a lot of experience in requirements specification, requirements analysis, software architecture and design of large and complex systems. 

?  Must have experience interacting with customers and partners.
