Lead Network Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Network Engineer is responsible for deploying network solutions, supporting projects and issues in the IT operations area. This individual has responsibility for mentoring of the lower level engineers. Once developed, the Lead Network Engineer organizes internal and external resources to deliver solutions within the boundaries of defined deliverables. The Lead Network Engineer is responsible for aiding in the design of the global infrastructure and also handles day to day technical analysis and troubleshooting of the network as based on a global helpdesk trouble-ticketing system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Management and maintenance of network devices. Support of 70+ site Global Infrastructure LAN/WAN (routing, switching, provisioning, documentation updates, upgrades, migrations and scheduled outages).
2. Participates in the development of Network and Systems Management Architecture and deployment of necessary tools to monitor performance & reliability of the network.
3. Participates in the development of Network Architecture. Ensures that existing network fulfils the requirements of the architecture. Designs, implements and supports the Removal of Legacy Frame Relay network and installation of MPLS and IPSec based Hybrid network to converge Data and Voice technologies.
4. Provides detailed documentation of all implementations, changes, and solutions.
5. Designs and installs internal and external VPN topologies (Client, Tunnel, etc).
6. Design, implementation and support of Cisco Firewalls, Access Control Lists and other security processes. Help enforce Security Policy.
7. Develops change management, fault management procedures.
8. Provides 24x7 emergency support and on-call rotation.
9. Any other related tasks as assigned by Manager.

? Must have a thorough understanding of the various technical disciplines and technologies within the IT Operations arena:
o Strong knowledge of TCP/IP design.
o Experience with Cisco Three-Layer Design Model
o Strong knowledge of routing protocols and design. (Static?s, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP)
o Strong knowledge of switching protocols and design (VLANs, Trunking, etc). Strong experience with switching and Campus LAN environments
o Strong Knowledge of Service Provider and Telco technologies and provisioning.
o Experience with remote access scenarios and solutions including dial-up, VPN based, RADIUS, TACACS and strong authentication mechanisms. (SSL, SSH, etc)
o Strong experience with PIX firewall configuration. Experience with IDS implementation a bonus. Any Check Point Experience a bonus. Strong Knowledge of Security Infrastructure design (PIX, VPN Concentrator, IPSec, ISAKMP, CiscoSecure ACS, etc)
o Strong Knowledge of Wireless Infrastructure (Aironet cards and AP?s, LEAP, etc)
o Strong working knowledge in Project, Excel, Visio, Word and PowerPoint software.
o Working knowledge of VOIP, IP Telephony and PBX
o Experience with network management tools, CiscoWorks, and network performance management tools like NMIS, MRTG, etc
o Experience with DNS and other name services
o Must have outstanding technical troubleshooting skills
o Any Systems Related Experience a bonus (Novell, Microsoft, Linux, etc)
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
? Bachelors Degree preferred but not mandatory
? Minimum 8 years experience implementing and supporting IT Solutions, 4 of which must be network infrastructure related.
? CCIE Preferred (routing and switching or security disciplines)
? CCNP, CCDP, CCSP, CCIE and Cisco Wireless certification desirable but not mandatory if highly experienced to the same level.
? Any mix of certification, experience and college will be carefully examined for this position.

This position has a significant impact on the performance of the entire IT infrastructure, which is becoming more and more reliant on network connectivity to supply critical information systems to the business. The results of this individual?s work will impact the performance and the reliability of those networks, which will have a direct impact on employee productivity and customer service.

Internal: All Danaher Motion IT associates and site IT liaisons.
External: Suppliers, Vendors, Consultants and Service Providers.
