Lead Quality Assurance Engineer - Hub

Job Summary:   The technical lead position is responsible for performing a variety of quality assurance activities within the MedPlus software product development organization. MedPlus software is focused on the management of medical records and laboratory test orders and results. This position is focused on mentoring team members and management project release needs.

 

Principal Responsibilities:
Guide and mentor team of QA Engineers to contribute towards high quality releases
Evaluate and contribute estimates needed to test various components
Contribute QA documentation needed for oversite of the SDLC release cycle
Track project management during the QA portion of the release cycle
Track defect management and manage defect management meetings
Communicate technical release needs to the QA testing team
Escalate problems within the testing cycle
Track, review and provide feedback to QA engineers on test cases and test coverage, automation
Evaluate needs of testing and make suggestions on improvements.
Design, development and execution of quality assurance test plans and strategies.
Participate in the review of new product requirements. Provides constructive feedback about the consistency and depth of the requirements.
Identifies tests that are most appropriate for automation, creates and maintains both automated and manual tests, and applies techniques that insure maintainable test assets.
Defines, develops and executes test strategies considering risk and cost of testing.
Supports the creation of project plans and activities that track progress against those plans.
Design, development and maintenance of test assets. These assets will likely include Web Services client programs, test scripts for automated load testing activities, test scripts for functional testing activities.
Execution of test plans
Work with development engineers to identify and resolve defects.
Assumes and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Coordinate and contribute towards certification and integration efforts
Project Management of releases
Production and Release Deployment Support

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must be a senior-level QA engineer capable of working independently or with a team.
Ability to work under minimal supervision
Ability to take initiative
Must be very articulate, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and able to explain abstract concepts effectively.
Must be a self-starter
Must be "results driven" and therefore must be willing to apply additional effort when required to meet commitments.
Must be a leader with the ability to grow and mentor our existing QA team.
Must be effective in prioritizing tasks and responsibilities.
Good understanding of Software development life cycle with an emphasis on Quality Assurance.
Demonstrated skills with automation tools such as Silk, Perl or other scripting language.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to adapt and quickly refocus in an agile software development environment.
Ability to understand the features and customer expectations of assigned responsibilities .
Proven programming skills with some OO language such as VB.Net, Java, C++, or C#
Knowledge of  HTTP, HTML, XML, SOAP or WebServices (Desirable)
Knowledge of HL7, NCPDP, 270/271? is a plus (Desirable)

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (BS) or greater in applicable field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum six (6) years experience in the software development or QA  role.
Minimum six (6) years experience with programming
Experience creating software test assets such as automated tests.
Experience with Unix/Linux system administration.
Experience mentoring or training employees
Senior level or leadership experience.
