Linux System Administrator

CITY: Tualatin STATE: Oregon COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
Maintains operating system and application software to support compliance to customer SLAs of 99.99% availability 24x7x365.

Provides on-call support for critical customer-facing application services as part of a global service desk.

Analyzes and diagnoses problems related to o/s and applications, making recommendations to enhance availability and supportability.

Develops/implements scripts to automate and validate software deployment, application testing, and production network infrastructure.

Provides technical assistance to development and QA personnel.

Works closely and with software build engineers and quality assurance engineers to provide a painless transition from development to test to production.

Maintains and validates backups for all critical components, both on-site storage, off-site storage, and replication to disaster recovery facilities.

Provides clear, respectful feedback to software development personnel on software architecture from a security and maintainability perspective.

Prepares and presents documentation to other service desk personnel.

Writes clear, complete and accurate reports on key performance indicators for measuring datacenter stability and service metrics.

Understands, follows, and trains other personnel on release management and change management processes for all datacenter operations.

Implements, audits, and reports on all access controls to ensure that confidentiality, integrity, and availability requirements for all information and datacenter computational assets are protected according to SLAs.

Constantly analyzes and improves monitoring and alerting coverage of all possible problems that could occur in the datacenter by automated systems for on-call support personnel.

Qualifications/Requirements:
At least two years experience in IT.

At least two years experience with TCP/IP networking protocol stack.

Experience with one or more modern Linux distributions.

Experience with high-end database infrastructure implementation.

Demonstrated ability to produce scripts in either Bash, Perl, Ruby, or Python to solve problems.

Experience with the Tomcat web server.

Willingness to take turns at being on-call 24x7 for system support.

Eligibility Requirements:
You must be willing to work out of an office in Tualatin, OR.

You must be willing to accept an annual salary that is not more than $80,000.
