Localization Engineer

San Francisco-based language agency is seeking a remote North America-based localization engineer (LE) to work on call primarily during California business hours. LE must ?

1. be familiar with many layout programs (Quark, InDesign, Illustrator, PageMaker, Framemaker, etc.);
2. be able to work with both Mac and PC platforms;
3. extract the word text from the layout;
4. analyze the text using the language industry program, Trados, for which we can provide an online tutorial;
5. manage and update translation memories;
6. deliver ?cleaned? (non-Trados coded) files for delivery to client;
7. compile and de-compile Online Help files;
8. analyze, export/import text, and engineer USI components; and
9. have ability to handle many website formats and technologies: HTML, PHP, Flash, ASP, CFM, etc.


Can work remotely from home office on a per-project or hourly basis.

Language industry and Trados experience preferred.
