Microsoft Architect

Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for assessing the client's needs, defining the project scope, developing implementation strategy, planning documentation migration, gathering the hardware and software requirements and acting as the project Lead/Mentor.

 

Essential Job Duties:

1. Serves as lead role in the planning, designing, installing, testing, and deploying of Microsoft

SharePoint.  Provides leadership in system architecture and appropriate means of developing and documenting these architectures.

 

AND/ORLeads the design, construction, and implementation of Microsoft-based solutions for .NET and SharePoint; data modeling and database design; requirements gathering, business analysis, system analysis, development technical leadership; unit testing, integrated system testing; application performance tuning; support during customer acceptance testing, and ongoing support to fine tune the solution.

 

OR Analyzes capacity needs and recommends infrastructure configuration and hardware topology.

Creates and reviews architectural artifacts; determines appropriate navigational schema and configures product to specifications. Configures servers if infrastructure resource unavailable.

 

2. Utilizes software development best practices on small and large projects. Consults with and

supports large and small project teams in use of blueprints, including use of Rational tools to initiate new project efforts or enhance existing project efforts.

3. Advises infrastructure teams on effective use of technology within the enterprise architecture. Evaluate new technologies and what benefits they may provide.

4. Provides hands-on training throughout engagements for customer team members.

5. Engages in pre-sales activities to develop client briefings, project estimates and proposals. Delivers presentations to upper level client management team and provide technical support.

6. Independently identifies and promotes new business opportunities with existing and new clients. Builds relationships with key decision-makers and has a high degree of contact with clients and prospects.

7. Mentors and trains other associates in the development of artifacts and serves as consulting system architect to these projects to correctly create the associated artifacts.

8. May perform other related duties as required and assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

? Bachelor?s degree in computer science, engineering, or MIS preferred and/or equivalent experience.

? Minimum of 10 yrs. of proven consulting experience preferred including producing and conducting technical presentations. AND/OR Experience as a key player (Architect/Technical Lead/Project Lead/Sr. Designer) designing and developing a solid functional & technical SharePoint portal solutions for no less than 3 SharePoint portal projects.

? Demonstrated ability to develop and manage large scale project plans, meet hard timelines, communicate effectively with an international project team, develop policy and procedures, develop solutions to complex business and technical challenges.

? Ability to interact with internal and external clients at all levels from Junior Developer to Senior Management.

? Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, facilitation, oral and written communication skills.

? The ability to work under minimal supervision, independently and/or as a member of a project team.

? Experienced in formal project management methodologies.

? The ability to meet with clients and based on current or projected business requirements design a technical solution meeting those requirements.

? Extensive knowledge of Sharepoint (SPS)  

? Experience architecting solutions for Microsoft .Net platform using SPS or other.

? Microsoft certifications in more than one technology desired (i.e. MCAD, MCSD, MCSE, etc).

? Knowledge of database platforms: Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle. Hands on architecture and design of database schema and ability to create stored procedures and optimized SQL query statements.

? Server infrastructure architecture, implementation, and configuration skills.

? Ability to multi-task and to prioritize workload under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Must  escalate appropriate issues to management in a timely fashion

? Must be detailed oriented - with strong attention to accuracy and problem solving. ?Follow-up until resolved? skills are a must.

? Ability to work well as a team member.

? Skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, etc.).

? Ability to travel
