Mid to Senior Java / J2EE Developer

We are looking for a mid-level Java/J2EE developer with 3-5 years of hands on J2EE development experience for our product development team in Northern Virginia. Our team is supporting the Department of Defense in developing applications in support of electronic medical data management in addition to developing tools, analytical models and applications for early outbreak detections. The ideal candidate will assume a variety of roles and collaborate continuously within a versatile, agile development environment, contributing to all phases of our application development. Our current Java based solutions collects around 8 million records daily, performs real time analytics, provides decision support user interface, in addition to GIS tracking. We play a critical role in supporting the Department of Defense in meeting its mission in supporting our troops.

The preferred candidate will have the following skills:

- US Citizenship is a mandatory requirement for this position
- Minimum 3-5 years of Java and object oriented (OO) programming experience
- Must have working knowledge of an agile development methodology, such as eXtreme Programming (XP) or Rational Unified Process (RUP)
- Must possess JavaScript, Java, Java Server Pages (JSP), Java Servlets programming, J2EE / EJB programming, DHTML and XML.
- Must be familiar with JDBC and either Oracle or DB2/UDB database
- Knowledge of Java (JDK 2.x), Java threads package, Java Native Interface (JNI), Java Plug-ins
- Application Server Knowledge: BEA Weblogic or IBM WebSphere
- Excellent communication is a must
- Must be familiar developing on Windows and UNIX
- Must have a minimum of a Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science, Health Care Administration or related fields (IT/business).

The ideal candidate will also possess working knowledge of some of the following:

- Struts and Model/View/Controller (MVC) architecture
- Candidates with C/C++ backgrounds
- Sun Certified Java Programmer, Professional certification from BEA/ IBM - is a plus
- Knowledge of Release management tools: Ant, Clearcase etc.
- Prior experience as Java / J2EE Lead, Senior Java / J2EE Developer, Java / J2EE Architect is a big plus
- Prior experience with Military Health System (MHS) or Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
