Motivated .NET Technical Architect (Enterprise Level)
Position Overview
Are you a highly energetic and innovative individual up for the challenge of rejuvenating a traditional, yet impermeable industry? As the Technical Architect, you will be responsible for the architecture of an integrated tax system for State tax agencies. This large scale enterprise system will be an n-tier, web-based solution built on the .NET platform that will modernize tax administration, expanding the availability of information, providing improved customer service, and increasing revenue generation capabilities.
You will work closely with project stakeholders, subject matter experts, and key client technical personnel to understand technical requirements and lead the design and implementation of the architecture, including prototyping, selecting third party products, sizing hardware, and building custom components. In addition, you will assist project management with planning, prioritization, and estimates as well as identification and mitigation of architectural risks and issues. You must be able to take high level direction and formulate and execute a plan that meets the expectations of the project manager.
You will be based in our Columbia, SC office and temporary or permanent relocation is available. We will also consider someone form outside the area who is willing to travel to South Carolina each work week.

Experience and Skills needed for successBS in Computer Science, MIS, or related fieldImmediate authorization to work in the US 8+ years of overall IT/software development experience with demonstrated progressive growth in a variety of system engineering and software architecture tasks including design, development, implementation, and integration of large-scale enterprise systems of a highly complex naturePrior experience as the lead technical authority for the design and development of the software architecture approach for a large-scale enterprise system5+ years experience building enterprise, multi-tiered web applications3+ years experience with .NET platform including ASP.NET, C# and related tools such as NUnit, NAnt, nDoc, VisualSourceSafeStrong background with relational database design and SQLExpert knowledge of object oriented design, web-based applications, design patterns such as Model-View-Controller, service oriented architectures, XML, distributed objects, and web servicesDemonstrated proficiency in documenting application design, understanding where to apply object oriented and service oriented concepts appropriately, and must understand how to design application tiering, error handling, caching, etcExperience with applying industry standard SDLC methodologies including the use of UML and modeling toolsOutstanding verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to present to and interact with executive management; excellent conceptual, problem solving, and analytical skillsAbility to take ownership and manage multiple tasks and competing prioritiesExperience managing technical resources and leading a team; strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills
Responsibilities ? What you will be doing:Lead infrastructure team including architecture developers, DBAs, and configuration engineersEnsure all architecture requirements are capturedDefine and drive solution architecture that meets client and RSI objectivesLead the definition of architectural models, standards and documentationPrepare and lead presentations of architecture to senior project stakeholdersWork with client to select and evolve software development methodologies (e.g. Microsoft Solution Framework MSF, RUP, Agile, Scrum, UML), templates, and toolsLead the resolution of technical issuesProvide expertise to clients, management and development teams on applicable technologies, standards, methodologies, and toolsMentor application development team to ensure systems under development comply with architectural standardsParticipate in review sessions of key project artifacts to mentor and stay on top of potential architecture issues.
