JOB SUMMARY

The Operational Database Lead will be responsible for managing, optimizing and tuning the Production Data Warehouse and Production Databases. This role will also be responsible for managing the execution and maintenance of the ETL routines to load data from the production Data Entry and Research Systems into the Data Warehouse. This role will play a key role in the database architecture, design and implementation for current and future products and solutions.

 

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES/DUTIES:

? Team Leadership and Co-Ordination - Responsible for leading the Database team and all aspects of the database production systems. This will include co-ordination with Senior Management, Operations, Product Management, Quality Assurance and Development team.

? Database Architecture ? Will assist in database architecture and design for current and future products and solutions.

? Project Management ? Will be responsible for day to day tasking of the DBA team and the team?s deliverables in accordance with a project plan.

? Development Responsibilities ? Will be an active member of the DBA team, spending at least 60% of their time managing databases, reviewing processes and procedures and being involved in architectural direction.

? Product Support. This role will lead the team that is responsible for managing the data for the Monthly and Quarterly product releases.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

? Proven in-depth knowledge of SQLServer 2000 in an OLTP and OLAP environment.

? Ability to perform logical and physical database design work, capacity planning, definition of initial installation parameters.

? Develop and enforce DBMS standards and guidelines.

? Perform routine database maintenance and tune the Production Data Warehouses and Web Site Databases.

? Manage database recovery, data integrity, and data security. Define the operational procedures for backups, log archives, etc.

? Design and implement ETL application using DTS.

? 5+ years of Database Administration experience.

? 2+ years of small team management experience in leading small teams that have delivered successful products or production systems under a budget and time constraints.

? Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to debug complex data issues and environments

? Demonstrated ability to document designs and changes to databases.

? Excellent verbal and written communication skills

? Skilled in managing team members and providing leadership and guidance

? Ability to use automated Project Management software such as Microsoft Project

? Must be willing to work out of the Costa Mesa CA office.

? MSDBA certification for SQL Server 2000 is preferred

? BS or MS degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent
