Responsibilities
Responsibilities to span all aspects of DBA support:
Install, configure and maintain highly available Oracle 9i, 10G and SQL server 2000 environments.Guide and support development staff in the areas of best practices for SQL, PL/SQL development and query optimization.Create batch / online ETL programs to support user needs.Create data extracts for various marketing analysis and exchange with external vendors.
Environment
The environment is comprised of dozens of Oracle 9i, 10G, SQL server 2000 instances, multi-terabyte SAN, EMC Clarion / Symmetrix Frames, Solaris 8/9/10 Sun servers and Windows 2000 / 2003 servers.
The environment is comprised of E-Commerce, SAP R/3, BW environments and stand-alone .NET / SQL Server applications.
Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Oracle 9i / 10G and SQL server 2000.Experience with as many of the following as possible: Oracle Streams, performance monitoring and tuning, VLDB backup / recovery strategies using Veritas Netbackup, Tivoli TSM and RMAN and UNIX capabilities.Strong PL / SQL capabilities for archiving and data warehouse support activities.Self-starter who can multi-task and work in a fast passed critical production support environment.Strong communication and negotiation skills are required for interacting with internal and external clients and customers.
