Oracle Database Developer

The Oracle Developer will help design, develop, and maintain queries, views, and PL/SQL packages required by the Back Office Support System's Oracle-based Operational Data Store and Data Warehouse. The Developer may also participate in the business analysis process, conduct data quality investigations, and assist in the development of test plans and test data. They will work closely with ETL developers and may assist in the development of ETL solutions with both PL/SQL and Informatica.

Essential Functions:
1. Write SQL queries and views
2. Develop PL/SQL procedures, functions and packages.
3. Participate in business analysis and development of requirements specifications.
4. Create and maintain appropriate documentation.
5. Support the testing and code promotion processes.



Qualifications :
Qualifications:

A. Education and Training
" BS degree in Computer Science or related program.
B. Technical Requirements
" Substantial professional experience with Oracle as a hands-on developer.
" Knowledge and professional experience with programming languages, and software development standard/practices.

Preferred:
" Knowledge of ETL tools, especially Informatica.
" Knowledge of XML, especially with Oracle's XML features.
" Knowledge of reporting tools, especially Cognos.
" Knowledge of Unix or Linux shell scripting, especially Korn shell.

C. Managerial, Technical or Professional Experience Required:
" 3+ years of Oracle development experience, as a hands-on developer.
" 5+ years of experience on database-focused projects.
" Experience working with normalized and star schema databases.
" Strong SQL and PL/SQL expertise.
" Experience in all phases of product cycle: gathering project requirements, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining software.

Preferred:
" Experience in Data Warehousing.
" Knowledge of and experience in the Insurance industry.
" Experience with financial reporting applications.
" Experience with time-variant database designs.
