In this position, individual will drive awareness and understanding of Sybase as a technology leader and innovator in the mobile industry, among press and key influencers.

 

The PR Manager will be responsible for:

-  Coordinating company-wide PR campaigns and managing external PR agency to support and promote Sybase?s mobile products.

-  Partnering with the mobile division and product marketing teams to drive proactive, positive media coverage.

-  Creating communications platforms for several executives leading the company's mobile market efforts including the carrier and consumer efforts.

-  Developing messaging and positioning; providing strategic PR counsel and advice to internal audiences.

-  Driving strategic thinking, development, execution, and measurement of management speaking opportunities.

-  Building and maintaining relationships with key reporters, editors, and analysts.

-  Serving as a liaison with Corporate Development on analyst relations and developing aligned communications to ensure efforts are cohesive and unified.

-  Quickly addressing and countering competitive news while staying abreast of industry issues.

-  Helping manage proactive and reactive PR around product-related news and technologies with emphasis on a high-quality product reviews program.

-  Working with Senior PR Manager to address and execute product seeding opportunities in the mainstream or niche consumer, carrier and enterprise market segments.

-  Work with Senior PR Manager to manage corporate PR.

 

Reporting to the Senior PR Manager, the individual will advance a mobile PR initiative that complements both product and corporate PR agendas. Individual will identify PR opportunities, create supporting strategies and successfully manage agency resources to help implement appropriate tactics. Specific activities/programs will include: developing messaging and speaking opportunities, proactive/reactive media relations, writing/editing press releases, bylined articles and other materials, and executive coaching. Individual will work with constituents across Sybase's business, including members of Sybase's executive team; the company's business units; public policy, legal and marketing teams; as well as with agencies, consultants and other external vendors.

 

 

The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated success as key organizational contributor, and aptitude for strategic planning and experience driving successful PR campaigns.  The position requires an ability to work under tight deadlines and to manage multiple products simultaneously. The position also requires excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.

 

Qualifications/Skills:8+ years of high tech public relations experience (software industry desirable) with emphasis on mobile technologyB.A./B.S. degree in journalism, marketing or related field Exceptional writing/editing skills Proven track record of success advancing technologies and/or technology agendas among press and analysts Demonstrated success working with/supporting Fortune 1000 executives Broad business understanding, strong analytical abilities and critical, creative thinker Experience in mobile technology PR programs Collaborative, team-oriented style Agency management experience essential
