POSITION TITLE: PRINCIPAL SYSTEMS CONSULTANT

LOCATION: SOUTHEAST US
REPORTS TO: MANAGER, SYSTEMS CONSULTANTS

POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary objective of the Wonderware system consultant is to enable the distribution channel to generate sales. Sales enablement is achieved through transferring knowledge to the distribution channel and particularly the distributor system consultants.
The system consultant is a sales person with industry and product knowledge that has no direct account management responsibilities.
The system consultant provides services as part of the sales process. The intent is to sell products, not to provide billable services. The contribution margin that can be generated by selling off-the-shelf products is far higher than the margin that can be generated by using the same system consultant for engineering services.
The primary objective of the system consultants is to increase sales by transferring knowledge. It is important to remember that the system consultant?s job is to sell and to support the sales process.
The system consultant job is unique in the way that it covers a broad spectrum from technology to customer objectives, with specific focus on market requirements, solutions and products.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Enable the distribution channel to sell
2. Transfer product and domain knowledge to the distribution channel (to support objective #1)
3. Gain product and domain knowledge (to support objective #2)

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE:
? Minimum 5 years of experience in working with industrial automation and information systems. Experience with industrial information systems is a key background that is generally more important than the industrial automation background.
? General sales skills ? must understand the sales process and the roles in the sales team.
? Presentation skills ? be able to plan, develop and deliver presentations so that it generates the effect that the sales team is trying to achieve. It is important to be able to think under pressure and answer questions from a demanding audience in real time.
? General engineering skills ? the system consultant will always be viewed as the technically skilled part of the sales team.

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE:
? Experience in designing and implementing industrial information and automation system based on requirements set by business needs. The experience must include a combination of technical work and customer interaction.
? Wonderware experience
? Ability to understand customer needs on a business level ? listen to the customer, discuss the business needs with the account manager; create a common understanding of what business problems the customer is trying to solve.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:
? Bachelor or masters degree in engineering or science (or equivalent practical experience)
