Position Title: Programmer Analyst II - Pathology
Position Description: We require a programmer who can advance the department's clinical information system and related systems (tumor registry, outreach support system) and maintain and enhance the department?s ability to deliver clinical services to YNHH, local clinicians and the world. The essential duties of this position are: participate in research, analysis and the evaluation of complex technical problems and determine and implement appropriate solutions; develop new systems and support and maintain existing clinical applications used in Pathology Department's operations, expand and develop existing applications; perform various coding, debugging and unit testing tasks in support of assigned projects; provide support for training of end users as necessary; investigate software and technical research tools to determine general strengths/weaknesses relative to clinical operations issues and existing infrastructure.
Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 3+ years of experience in systems development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An MS degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred, along with certification in at least one major programming language; significant programming experience with PowerBuilder and relational databases (particularly Sybase and MYSQL) as well as experience developing Web interfaces with JavaScript, DHTML, and CSS; experience in a clinical environment and understanding of HL7 protocol and interface development. The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; the ability to function autonomously within programmatic guidelines; well-developed communication skills, both written and oral; and the ability to work effectively, independently and in a professional manner.
